This antiarrhythmic treats serious, life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, flutter, and ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation, particularly when other therapies are ineffective, contraindicated, or rapid response is required.
Dosage and administration
For loading, infuse 5 mg/kg in 5% glucose over 20 minutes to 2 hours. Maintenance requires 10-20 mg/kg every 24 hours. Emergency bolus is 5 mg/kg over 3 minutes.
