Manila, Philippines: According to <\/span>the department of health<\/span><\/a>, the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the Philippines since the start of the pandemic exceeded 1 million on Monday, as a health official advised against releasing restrictions to supply hospitals some “breathing room.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The department of health reported nearly 9,000 new COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours brought the country’s caseload to 1,006,428 – the second-highest in Southeast Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n

A lockdown required on the national capital region and four surrounding areas at the end of March to reduce a record wave in infections seems to be serving.<\/span><\/p>\n
